“Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. Part 1 – Airborne sound insulation”.
This British, European and International Standard provides quantifiable ratings for the results of tests carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-3. The Standard provides a set of mathematical rules that “weights” the sound barrier performance of a door assembly, according to the more commonly encountered frequencies. The result is an “Rw” single-figure performance guide - the weighted average sound reduction index.
