Research and Development
Ongoing research and development has played a vital part in Lorient's growth over the years, and it continues to be an integral part of our future development plans.
From sourcing and investigating new materials, right through to performance and durability testing, every product that Lorient makes undergoes exhaustive R&D work at each stage of its development, long before it ever reaches the customer.
Lorient has its own professionally staffed research and development facility, with a comprehensive range of development and testing equipment, including:
- Fire test furnace (pictured) - suitable for undertaking reliable indicative fire testing
- Smoke chamber - for testing the smoke containment performance of products
- Specialized performance rigs - for testing product durability over opening and closing cycles, and frictional resistance
- Analytical laboratory - for materials analysis, development and testing, and colour matching
All of our R&D facilities, and our expertise, are also available for Lorient customers to use in the development of their own products too - and by working with us from the outset, many of our customers have experienced significant time and cost savings in bringing new products to market.
Lorient's R&D expertise extends internationally too, most recently with the development of our own in-house acoustic testing laboratory.
