Doc E Acoustic Seals Packs

The revisions to Approved Document E to the Building Regulations for England & Wales came into effect on 1 July 2003. From that date, all planning applications requiring Building Control approval, and work carried out under Building Notice procedures, has to comply with the revised Regulations.

Much of Document E relates to the acoustic performance of floors, ceilings and walls. However, for the first time, the acoustic performance of door assemblies in a number of situations is also specifically detailed.

But making sure your doorsets meet the requirements doesn’t have to be difficult. Lorient's Doc E packs offer four straightforward choices:

If you need to seal a door for acoustic containment only, select Pack E1 or E2.

Pack E1 is designed for an acoustic door of standard size 2040 x 826mm (will fit up to 2100 x 835mm). It contains Lorient’s IS1212 Batwing® seal for the door perimeter, and the IS8010 si automatic threshold seal. On a typical architectural solid core door, the product combinations have been proven to give an acoustic performance of 31dB Rw.

Pack E2 is identical to E1 – except it is designed for a larger standard door size of 2040 x 926mm (will fit up to 2100 x 935mm). On a typical architectural solid core door, the product combinations have been proven to give an acoustic performance of 31dB Rw.

As well as meeting the requirements of Document E, many doors also need to provide fire and smoke containment, to meet the requirements of Approved Document B. Packs E3 and E4 are designed to provide combined acoustic, smoke and fire containment for FD30S doors.

Pack E3 is designed for a fire-rated door of standard size 2040 x 826mm (will fit up to 2100 x 835mm). It contains Lorient’s brand new LP1504DS seal for the door perimeter, and the IS8010 si automatic threshold seal, with an intumescent cladding kit. On a typical architectural solid core door, the product combinations have been proven to give an acoustic performance of 31dB Rw.
